The Wynnton Arts Academy String Ensemble performed for school board members at the board’s Monday night meeting.
They played five pieces for the board, including a march and piece called “Off-Beat Blues.”
The string ensemble is an afterschool program for third, fourth and fifth graders led by two retired CSU professors. Principal Nancy Johnson said the school eventually wants to build an entire string orchestra, with violas and cellos.
The students only practice at school and been taking lessons for fourth months. During the board meeting, the students received a standing ovation from the audience and board members.
