Aflac Inc. has changed its business size requirements for its short-term disability policies, making it available to more small businesses.
The supplemental insurer announced Wednesday it has lowered the minimum worksite size requirement for these policies from five full-time workers to three.
Aflac officials said this should help small business owners and their employees during a challenging economy.
“Making Aflac’s short-term disability coverage available to more employers will provide them with a cost-efficient way to help protect their employees’ income against an unexpected health event during a time when people need it the most,” Karen Riedel, Aflac director of product marketing, said in a statement.
