The Springer Opera House is the host for the Oral History Performances workshop Monday

The Springer Opera House will be the site for the "Oral History Performances: Creating a Story Play for Your Community" workshop, presented by the Georgia Assembly of Community Arts Agencies. The workshop will be Monday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Rebecca Kennerly, assistant professor of communication studies at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, will lead the workshop. She teaches intercultural communication, performance and oral history. Assisting Kennerly will be Jennifer Tarwick of the Colquitt Miller Arts Council and Paul Pierce, producing artistic director of the Springer.

The Colquitt Miller Arts Council has produced "Swamp Gravy," a successful story play. In 1996, the Springer created "Kudzu: The Musical," using Chattahoochee Valley folk tales and memories.

This workshop will teach participants how to plan and organize an oral history project.

The workshop is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday. Admission is $45, and includes lunch and materials.

Call Pierce at 706-256-0951.
