For Tom Sawyer "Big Read," library invites folks to whitewash a fence

Locals reading "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" are invited to pull on their overalls and come whitewash a fence Saturday at the Columbus Public Library.

The event marks a part of the book in which Tom Sawyer pretends to so enjoy painting a fence that boys passing by give him their keepsakes if he'll let them do the work.

The community fence painting will 1-3 p.m. on the front lawn of the 3000 Macon Road library.
