Columbus crime: Man injured in armed robbery attempt

A Columbus man received a crack on the head Friday morning during an armed robbery attempt outside a McDonald's restaurant at 5th Avenue and 14th Street.

The 50-year-old victim was hit from behind by an unknown suspect wielding an unknown object. He was treated at The Medical Center for a 3-4 inch gash on the back of his head.

Though the suspect tried to wrestler money away from the victim, he came up empty-handed.

A police report states the suspect is a 6-foot-4 black man, weighing about 210 pounds. At the time of the robbery attempt the suspect was wearing a white Polo shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
