The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns to perform at Callaway Gardens April 25

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns to Callaway Gardens perform a "Musical Evening in the Gardens" at 8 p.m. April 25.

The orchestra will be led by assistant conductor and League of American Orchestras Conducting Fellow Mei-Ann Chen. The orchestra will be on a stage on Robin Lake Beach. The program includes pieces by Dvořák, Vaughan Williams, Bizet, Brahms and Copland as a special tribute to our armed forces.

“Last year’s performance of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra outdoors at Callaway Gardens was simply awesome,” said Edward Callaway, chairman and CEO of Callaway Gardens. “The more than 3,000 people here in 2008 witnessed something as beautiful as a flower, or as majestic as a bald eagle in flight. This is a ‘don’t miss’ kind of experience.”

Callaway Gardens will host a public celebration of the 25th anniversary of the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center with a 2 p.m. ceremony featuring music and a few spoken words. The Sibley Center is one of the nation’s premiere display garden conservatories, and the anniversary will be celebrated with special displays and events throughout the year.

General seating on the lawn at Robin Lake Beach is available at the gate for $10; Children 12 and younger get in free.

Military personnel, both active and reserve, members of the National Guard, retirees and dependents with valid military ID will get in free.

A limited number of tables of eight (with chairs and table cloths) in front of the stage are available for $200 each. To reserve a table, please call 706-663-6853. Dress is casual.

The U.S. 27 beach gate will open at 5 p.m.
