Former Russell County outfielder Colby Rasmus has been selected to play in the 2007 All-Star Futures Game.
The game features 50 of the top minor league prospects, and it will be played on July 8th at 4 p.m. in San Francisco. It will kick off the all-star weekend and will be televised live on ESPN2.
Rasmus was one of the five outfielders selected to the U.S. team. The 20-year-old is batting .254 with 23 doubles and 12 home runs this season for the Springfield Cardinals, the Double A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. He will also play in the Texas League All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Rasmus, who was selected 28th overall in the 2005 Major League Baseball amateur draft, is No. 1 prospect in the Cardinals organization, according to Baseball America.

Minor Leaguers from all 30 organizations and from 12 different countries were selected for the ninth-annual showcase. Major League Baseball, Baseball America and MLB.com work together to determine the players invited to the game.
