Operation Stand Down for veterans at Columbus State set for April 25

Operation Stand Down 2009 for veterans will take place locally at Columbus State University on April 25.

It will be 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center.

The event is sponsored the Georgia Center for Veterans Rehabilitation, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System.

During the Stand Down, assistance will be provided to homeless veterans and veterans in need in the areas of benefits and pension, housing assistance, legal assistance, voter registration, social security, limited physical exams, eye and dental screenings, etc.

Guest speakers will be U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop and Major General (Ret.) Ronald L. Johnson.
