"American Idol" alum Carrie Underwood won entertainer of the year at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards -- and also made headlines for a giant, floor-sweeping red dress.
Taylor Swift, another young country superstar who has aided country music's crossover into the pop radio world, won album of the year, beating out powerhouses like Underwood and George Strait. Host Reba McEntire gave Swift a special award for helping country music attract a younger audience.
"Dancing with the Stars" pro Julianne Hough was named best new artist, while Trace Adkins got single record of the year for "You're Gonna Miss This." Both stars are scheduled to appear at Sticks Country Festival in Auburn April 17-18.
Other winners included Rascal Flatts, Jamey Johnson, Sugarland and Brad Paisley.
