The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Point Project, says that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be restricted of closed April 13-14 to ensure public safety.
Corps staff will be testing the trunnion anchor rods that secure the spillway gates. Traffic across the dam will be reduced to one lane while workers are present and the roadway will be closed for brief periods when necessary. It is anticipated the road will bew closed all day April 14.
Alternate routes across the river are the U.S. High 29 Bridge in West Point, Ga., and the Georgia Highway 109 Bridge near LaGrange, Ga.
