Students from the Mercer University Law School in Macon, Ga. beat the University of Houston in the finals of the American Bar Association's National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition held at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
Mercer beat Harvard University in the semifinals. Only 20 teams were invited to compete.
Mercer was the only one from Georgia.
Mercer student Katie Powers won both the "Best Advocate" and "Best Cross-Examiner" awards.
