Columbus approved $10 million in stimulus funds

Columbus has been approved $10 million from an $82.6 million package of projects to be funded with economic stimulus money.

Since the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was signed by the president in February, Columbus officials have compiled a list that seeks money for transportation, infrastructure, housing, jobs and others projects.

In a presentation to Columbus Council today, Deputy City Manager Lisa Goodwin said money has been approved for housing assistance, jobs and job training, new Metra buses and streetscapes programs.

She said a team of city officials have been put together to make sure the money is spent properly on projects.
