Valley, Ala. Police Department under investigation

Valley, Ala. Police Department's top brass have been relieved of their duties for now as the city probes allegations of possibly questionable events occurring within the department, a press release from the mayor's office said.

Mayor Arnold Leak ordered the administrative inquiry, though his office is keeping mum on the specifics of the allegations and subsequent complaints.

"Though no specific information relevant to the allegations will be released at this time, as it could compromise the progress of the inquiry," the release said, "City Administrator James T. Bryan has been temporarily named as acting chief of police."

In addition, Lt. Frank Montroy will assume the position of deputy chief of police and will take on responsibility for operational oversight of all divisions during the investigative period.

The Valley City Council met Tuesday night and discussed this matter in executive session.
