Alumni give 2 local students scholarships to the University of Alabama

The Russell/Muscogee County Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association awarded two local students, Kenedie Barnes of Russell County High and Hayley Walker of Harris County High, scholarships to the University of Alabama.

The two students were the first recipients of the Tom and Jeri Starlin Scholarship Endowment.

University President Robert Witt was on hand at a chapter meeting Monday to present the scholarships.

Chapter President Blair Brown said, "our selection committee had a very difficult task in determining who the first two recipients would be. We had 34 applicants and each of them was imminently qualified. I believe that Kenedie and Hayley are excellent choices and we are proud that they will represent our area at the University of Alabama."
