Suicide at Shooters firing range in Columbus

For the second time in less than one month, a man committed suicide at Shooters firing range in Columbus.

Police said the 20-year-old man went into the business at 4445 Milgen Road about 5 p.m. and rented a gun.

He then walked into the range and fired several shots before turning the gun on himself.

Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower said he pronounced the man dead at 5:20 p.m.

Last month, Manuel Garcia, 46, committed suicide at Shooters.

The shooting occurred the morning of March 23.

Columbus Police Lt. Charles Kennedy said then that in his more than 20 years on the force he's never heard of anyone committing suicide at a range in Columbus.
