'Taming of the Shrew' coming to promenade amphitheater

The Chattahoochee Shakespeare Company's to put on William Shakespeare’s comedy "The Taming of the Shrew," as part of its RiverShakes Weekend ‘09, May 7-10.

The shows in the Riverfront Amphitheater at Front Avenue and Sixth Street will be 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with matinees at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Director Troy Heard sets the play in 1950s Italy, with the style of early Fellini movies, employing speeding Vespas and flying pizza.

The shows will be preceded by music, and food vendors will be on site. After matinee performance on Saturday, May 9, audiences may join the cast for a post-show discussion. Spectators are invited to bring picnic baskets
