Suspect sought in home invasion, beating of elderly couple

Columbus police are searching for 21-year-old Calvin Lamar Anderson of Box Springs, Ga., as a suspect in the Saturday home invasion beating of 93-year-old Roy Brooks and his wife, 92-year -old wife Reva Brooks.

"Through our investigative efforts," said Columbus Pol. Capt. Lem Miller, "this person has been identified as the one who did the crime."

Miller said Anderson is wanted on two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of burglary and one count of motor vehicle theft.

The crime took place at 757 Dogwood Drive. Columbus police say that a man, believed now to be Anderson, came to the front door of the couple's brick house and asked to use the telephone. Once inside the residence, the man punched Roy Brooks and went after his wife. Following the attack, the assailant stole undisclosed personal items from the residence and sped off in the couple's white Lincoln Town Car.

Police haven't recovered the stolen vehicle, which bears license plate number XA352J.

The Brookses were hospitalized with wounds suffered during the attack, but have now been discharged, according to a spokesperson for The Medical Center.

Miller said anyone with information about Anderson or the vehicle should call 911.
