The Arts Association of East Alabama, formerly called the Opelika Arts Association, recently announced its 2007-08 performance series. The name change came as the organization decided the name should more accurately reflect its membership and area coverage.
On the schedule are John Pizzarelli, the jazz guitarist, on Oct. 9, followed by the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, Nov. 5; "Gypsy," Dec. 11; the State Symphony Orchestra of Mexico with director Enrique Batiz and guest solo violinist Joan Kwuon, Jan. 24; "The Producers," Feb. 6; Neil Berg's "100 Years of Broadway." The season extras are the African Children's Choir, Feb. 1 and "An Evening with Garrison Keillor," April 23.
The early bird season ticket prices are $120-$165 until July 27. From July 28-Aug. 24, regular season ticket prices are $153-$198. Single tickets are $23-$35 and go on sale Sept. 15, but orders are being taken now. They will be processed after the season ticket holders receive their tickets.
The African Children's Choir tickets are $15-$25.
