Federal authorities are searching for a suspect who kidnapped a Columbus man Wednesday night, forcing him at gunpoint to drive into Georgia and onto Fort Benning.
The suspect, whose description hasn't been released, approached Tyrus Dorsey, 29, about 11:30 p.m. in an undisclosed location near U.S. 431 South in Phenix City, Columbus Police and the FBI said.
"The victim was forced into his vehicle at gunpoint," said FBI Agent Donny Green. "He was forced to drive to an ATM (in Columbus) and then proceeded to another financial institution located on Fort Benning."
Columbus Police Lt. Vince Pasko said the suspect wanted Dorsey to withdraw money from the bank.

The suspect encountered difficulty at a post checkpoint, and when guards tried to apprehend him, he ran, Green said.
"We've got some hot leads," Green added.
