Soldier killed in Columbus during group motorcycle ride

Sgt. 1st Class Montelleo Hobley, an air traffic controller from Fort Rucker, Ala., was killed Sunday afternoon when he lost control of his Suzuki Hayabusa while traveling with a motorcycle club on Woodruff Farm Road.

Lt. Richard Gaines of the Columbus Police Department said Hobley was just north of Mutec Drive when he went off the road, struck a sign and died instantly.

Hobley, 30, was from Tampa, Fla. Friends say he was living in Enterprise, Ala., while stationed at Rucker.
