Today at 10 a.m. Bill Heard III will present a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am car as a gift to a Fort Benning family.
Operation Homefront-Georgia , a non-profit dedicated to supporting the troops and their families in Georgia, received a call requesting assistance with a vehicle repair. The family, in the middle of a deployment, needed a safe and reliable vehicle to transport children.
Columbus businesses were asked for help and Bill Heard Chevrolet on Manchester Expressway responded with a loaner car at no cost to the family. After careful review, the family's car was found to be worth less than the cost of repair. Bill Heard began looking for a replacement car.
Heard said, "Bill Heard Chevrolet of Columbus recognizes the great sacrifice and hardships our Fort Benning families make and we hope this small gift will make a difference in a family's life."
