Boys & Girls Clubs honor Phillips

Muscogee County School Superintendent John Phillips has received the 2007 Man & Youth Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley.

Phillips received the same award from the Conyers/Rockdale Boys Club in 1986. It is presented to individuals who have displayed dedicated service and a commitment to youth. Phillips ensured that students from 18 schools were provided transportation to and from Boys & Girls Clubs and played a key role in getting permission for the organization to operate an after-school program at Eagle Ridge Academy in the fall.

Phillips, who has led Muscogee County schools since 2003, has been in public education for 38 years. The Georgia Association of Educational Leaders recently honored him with its Outstanding Educator Award for the second time.
