PAWS Columbus Inc. in partnership with the Muscogee Youth Development Campus will hold the first graduation ceremony for the participants of the PAWS to Care program at 1:30 p.m. on July 30. Anyone wishing to attend must call ahead to William Samuel at 706-565-4395.

The program was the idea of PAWS Columbus board and child advocate Aaron Cohn.

It was first initiated at the Aaron Cohn Regional Youth Detention Center before expanding to the Muscogee Youth Development Campus in January. It is the only program of its kind for incarcerated youth in Georgia.

The program provides an innovative animal-bonding program for youth by training shelter animals in order to provide experiences in patience, responsibility and the gift of giving and receiving love, while providing a second chance for a shelter animal through training in basic obedience.
