The Phenix City Board of Education has rescheduled its budget hearings for late August.
The board voted Thursday evening to move the public hearings to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and 23. The hearings were originally set for July 23 and 26.
Superintendent Larry DiChiara said the hearings had to be rescheduled because the system received funds from the state Legislature later than usual and Chief Financial Officer Suzy Ruth needed more time to prepare the budget.
The meetings are open to the public. The budget for the school system is due to state department of education Sept. 17.
