The construction of access ramps and the widening of the North Bypass Bridge over Riverchase Drive will cause the street to be closed, the Phenix City Engineering and Public Works Department announced Friday.
Riverchase Drive will be closed at the intersection beginning Aug. 6 and will be unavailable for travel for a maximum of 75 days. The ramps will connect the bypass and Riverchase, with the acceleration and deceleration lanes constructed on the widened bridge.
The contractor for the project is Tomlin Construction LLC of Gordo, Ala. The project will cover 1.55 miles at a cost of $9.62 million.
