Shots fired at motorist

A Phenix City man told Columbus police he was shot at while in his car on Third Avenue.

Richard McDonald, 42, said he was driving south on Third Avenue at about 5:50 p.m. Friday when he noticed a man beating a woman inside a gray truck, police said in a report.

When the man noticed McDonald behind him, the man yelled profanity at him, but McDonald said nothing to him. The man then went inside a Third Avenue home, got a pistol, and fired at McDonald as he drove away.

The gunman was described as black, 20-25 years old and about 5 foot 6 inches tall. He was wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt and blue jeans.

No arrest has been made.
