District Attorney Peter J. Skandalakis of the Coweta Judicial Circuit, headquartered in LaGrange, has been selected as 2007 District Attorney of the Year by the District Attorneys' Association of Georgia.
The announcement was made Monday, July 23, at the 47th annual summer conference held at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, Jekyll Island, a conference sponsored by the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council.
Skandalakis was nominated by his office staff. The award was presented by Fred Bright, outgoing president of the association. Skandalakis has again been selected to serve on the District Attorneys' Council. He served as president of the state association in 1998.
Besides being chairman of the council, Skandalakis has chaired its Basic Litigation Training Course since 2001. In recognition of his "exceptional contributions" to the course, Skandalakis was the 2006 recipient of the J. Roger Thompson Award given to one outstanding faculty member annually.
