The Russell County Commission will have a called meeting Monday, with the purchase of the former Mead Coated Board headquarters on Broad Street the primary issue.
MeadWestvaco accepted the county's bid of $5 million to purchase the 35,638 square-foot building last week.
The commission will likely ratify the agreement during the 1 p.m. meeting in its chambers at the Russell County Courthouse on 14th Street.
The Mead building is expected to become the new county courthouse and house essential county offices like the probate, revenue, tag and tax appraisal. The current county courthouse will house the four-judge Russell County Judicial District and the Russell County District Attorney's Office.
