The Georgia Forestry Association will host its regional meeting at Port Columbus Civil War Naval Center in Columbus from 6 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Speakers will include plant pathologist Michelle Cram with the U.S. Forest Service, who will discuss how the annosum root disease is affecting pine stands in western and central Georgia; and Mark Melvin, with the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Center and chair of Georgia's Prescribed Fire Council. He will speak on "Protecting Georgian's Right to Use Prescribed Fire as a Forest Management Tool."
