"Semmes Takes Command", a reenactment of Admiral Raphael Semmes' assumption of command of the CSS Alabama will be held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Naval Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus.
Semmes, an officer in the United States Navy from 1826-60 and the Confederate States Navy from 1860-65, will be depicted as he meets his officers and crew for the first time in the Azores Islands to assume command of his soon-to-be-famous ship.
Author and historian Stephen Fox will be signing books from noon until 4 p.m.
