Muscogee County Schools: District's financial division receives national award

The Muscogee County School District's Financial Services Division has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence for the district's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, or CAFR.

It is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The CAFR, which contains the annual audit of the school district, is evaluated by a panel of judges to meet the standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate its financial story and to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
