Columbus Fire-EMS rescues anglers from rising river

Members of the Columbus Fire-EMS water rescue squad plucked four fishermen from the rising waters of the Chattahoochee River at about 11 a.m. today.

The anglers, fishing on rocks near the Dillingham Street Bridge, became trapped by rapidly rising water. The rescue squad arrived in its boat and took them, two at a time, to the Phenix City riverbank, where they were deposited safely.
