Muscogee, Harris and Chattahoochee County Schools to get federal stimulus funding

The Georgia Board of Education will hold a called meeting at 8 a.m. on April 28 to discuss the first wave of federal stimulus fund allocations to local school districts.

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Georgia school district will get about $351 million in Title I funds for economically-disadvantaged students and about $314 million in IDEA funds for students with disabilities. About half of the funds will be allocated at this meeting; the other half will be given to school districts in the fall.

The Muscogee County School District is expected to receive about $5 million in Title I funds and about $3.12 million in IDEA funds this month and another $5 million in Title I funds and $3.12 million in IDEA funds in October.

The Harris County School District is expected to receive about $168,800 in Title I funds and about $450,200 in IDEA funds this month and another $168,800 in Title I funds and $450,200 in IDEA funds in October.

The Chattahoochee County School District is expected to receive about $72,242 in Title I funds and about $84,200 in IDEA funds this month and another $72,242 in Title I funds and $84,200 in IDEA funds in October.
