Stand-off in Valley, Ala. ends with surrender

Valley, Ala., police diffused a potentially life-threatening situation Friday morning involving a man who had barricaded himself in his house with a gun.

Authorities were called to the man’s Valley residence about 1 a.m. in response to a 911 emergency call. The subject said he was armed with a pistol and threatened to shoot police if they came to his house, according to a release. They came anyway and after several hours of negotiations the gunman surrendered about 4 p.m.

No force was used and no one sustained injuries.

The subject was charged with one count of making terroristic threats and transported to the Chambers County Jail.
