J.R. Allen eastbound lane open

The eastbound lane of J.R. Allen Parkway is now open after a Columbus Water Works tank collapsed early Saturday morning.

Isaiah Hugley, Columbus city manager, said part of the highway near the River Road exit was closed for about six hours - between around 4 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

City workers assisted Columbus Water Works employees as they cleaned up the debris and sludge from the water tank, which spilled about 6 million gallons of water on J.R. Allen Parkway and areas behind where the tank sat.
