Aflac named no. 1 among insurance brands

City Business Journals Network has named Aflac as the top brand in the insurance and financial services industry for 2009.

The Columbus supplemental insurance firm won the American Brand Excellence Award. This is the first year Aflac won the no. 1 spot in its industry.

Six winners — one per category — were chosen by more than 1,400 small and mid-sized business owners and managers as brands that best meet the needs of their businesses. More than 250 business brands were rated on criteria such as industry leaders, forward thinking, growing popularity and ethical behavior.

“What makes the American Brand Excellence Award unique is that they represent how business owners and managers feel about the companies that support their businesses and help them grow,” CBJN President George M. Conley said in a statement. “Aflac is a true leader and CBJN is proud to acknowledge them and help celebrate their success.”
