Blackmon Road MS students to visit Benning's 3rd ID

About 250 seventh-graders with Blackmon Road Middle School will descend upon Fort Benning's Kelley Hill today to learn what it's like to be a soldier.

Beginning at 10 a.m. at Essenbacher Field the students will be sworn in as soldiers for the day, run through some physical training exercises with members of the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team and given the opportunity to learn about the types of equipment soldiers use.

The 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team is Blackmon Road Middle School's partner in education.

The event goes until about 1:15 p.m.
