Bachelorette recap: Jillian Harris says goodbye to Robby, Jake Pavelka, Tanner; will Jake return?
"The Bachelorette" Jillian Harris eliminated Jake, a 31-year-old pilot from Dallas; Tanner P., a 30-year-old Dallas financial analyst with a foot fetish; and Robby from Monday's reality show on ABC.
"I feel heartbroken," Tanner said.
"I just feel like it wasn't right," Jillian told Jake. "I'm the guy who came in truly looking for love," Jake responded.
"I know Wes a lot better than she knows him. She will get hurt. He will break her heart. Nice guys finish last. It's been the story of my life.. absolutely blindsighted. If Jillian wanted me, she could have had me," Jake said. Is he setting himself up to be the next "Bachelor?" Let's hope so.
As the last rose ceremony started, Jillian took Michael aside. She was concerned about his age of 25.
"I realize that I'm the young buck... I have not had a one night stand... I don't need all that craziness to know that I've found the woman I love... the one thing I'm missing is the forever person," Michael said.
Reid and Kiptyn didn't need to be nervous at the rose ceremony. Both earned roses on their dates.
Robby wasn't so luck. He was Jillian's first one-on-one date on Monday's show. The bachelorette and her remaining dates rode a train through the Canadian wilderness during this episode.
What went wrong with Robby? Jillian's biggest concern was if he was really ready for a relationship, a marriage and a family. The Bachelorette decided that he wasn't.
"Love has no age." Robby, the 25-year-old bartender said. But he couldn't explain why. "I had a lot of fun," Robby said about his time with Jillian. He said that he wished he had a bigger vocabulary to communicate his feelings, but he couldn't. He got off the train with his packed suitcases and was sent home.
"She felt that I was too young," Robby said as he got off the train. "Here I am on the damn train tracks," he said.
"With Robby, the conversation never got as deep as it should with THE ONE," Jillian said.
Her one-on-one date with Reid made for better banter.
"Reid is not afraid to tell me what his imperfections are," Jillian said. Reid was especially nervous about the fondue that was served as the entree on their date. He was worried that the raw meat being dipped into hot oil would be dangerous to eat. Jillian was laid back about the fondue, but found Reid's concerns endearing. She gave him a rose.
Her group date took place on Emerald Lake with several of her suitors.
Jillian took the group snowshoeing. She immediately suggested a game of hide 'n seek to bring back her childhood memories.
"I actually found her hiding underneath a tree and slipped in a little cuddle." Jake, the 31-year-old pilot from Dallas, said. Was that a pleasant memory from her childhood?
"You remind me a lot of my mom," Jake said. Was that a good move? Perhaps not.
"There's something about snow that's forgiving. You can do whatever you want in the snow," Jillian said.
"I wanted to kiss her and I didn't," Jake said after his one-on-one conversation with Jillian. The lack of romance wasn't his fault. The other guys burst in on his alone time with the bachelorette.
Kiptyn, though he expressed concern over not having enough time to talk, didn't have too little time to kiss. His time-saving strategy must have worked since he got the rose at the end of the group date.
When the group conversation turned to bedtime attire, Tanner — aka Mr. Foot Fetish — stripped down to his briefs.
"I don't need to see someone's package yet," Jillian said. "Though it was huge," she added.
Jake decided he needed to tell Jillian how he felt. "Everything is just lining up. I'm crazy about you," Jake said. Next week Jillian will visit the remaining guys at their hometowns. She'll meet their families and friends before deciding who has potential to be her husband.
