BET Awards 2009 air 8 p.m. tonight, will honor Michael Jackson

Expect an extensive tribute to Michael Jackson on tonight's BET Awards, which air 8 p.m. on Black Entertainment Television.

The show changed from awards ceremony to musical tribute after Jackson's death last week.

A statement on the network's Web site notes:

"With the untimely passing of an incomparable legend, the 2009 BET Awards will be shifting gears to honor the late Michael Jackson and his contributions to not only the music industry, but to the entire world. His loss is a difficult one to accept and BET will do its part to ensure that his legend lives on. The 2009 BET Awards will be dedicated to the life, legacy and legend of music icon, Michael Jackson."

There's a wide variety of scheduled performers, including Beyonce and Keri Hilson. Jamie Foxx will host.
