Part of downtown Columbus street to be temporarily closed for major construction project
A section of Second Avenue in Columbus will be closed temporarily in August due to ongoing construction on the new Judicial Center.
From Aug. 2 through Aug. 4, the section of Second Avenue between Ninth Street and 10th Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, according to a news release from the city.
The news release states that northbound traffic will be able to use this section of Second Avenue outside of these hours, but the southbound lanes will remain closed during the Judicial Center project.
The closure will allow for the erection of a tower crane at the site, according to the release.
A detour route will be provided by signage along Ninth Street, Third Avenue, 10th Street and First Avenue, the release says.
Anyone with questions regarding the closure can contact Columbus Consolidated Government inspections and codes director Ryan Pruett at rpruett@columbusga.org or 706-225-3878.
