So You Think You Can Dance July 9 results: Phillip Chbeeb and Caitlin Kinney eliminated, but will go on tour
Phillip Chbeeb and Caitlin Kinney were sent home on Thursday's episode of "So You Think You Can Dance," but they got a surprise.
They'll join the Top 10 on the show's official tour, judge/producer Nigel Lythgoe announced. The tour, slated to begin in September, is traditionally limited to 10 dancers. By making the Top 12, Phillip and Caitlin thought they had narrowly missed the cut.
Phillip and his partner Jeanine Mason were joined in the bottom three by Caitlin and her partner, Jason Glover. The final couple in danger was Ade Obayomi and Melissa Sandvig. It was their first trip to the bottom three.
Lythgoe said the decision to eliminate Phillip and Caitlin was unanimous.
Also on Thursday's show, Lythgoe announced a rumored "So You Think You Can Dance" tribute to Michael Jackson is not happening. The show could not secure the rights to Jackson's song catalog, he said.
Next week, the 10 remaining dancers get new partners.
