So You Think You Can Dance finale 2009 results: Jeanine Mason is the Season 5 winner

Jeanine Mason, 18, was named the Season 5 champion of "So You Think You Can Dance" Thursday night.

Brandon Bryant finished second, Evan Kasprzak finished third and Kayla Radomski finished fourth. Some 21.6 million votes were cast, host Cat Deeley announced.

Mason, of Pinecrest, Fla., didn't enter the competition with an intriguing back story, but she hooked viewers as she picked up steam in recent weeks. On Wednesday's performance round, judge/producer Nigel Lythgoe predicted either Mason or Bryant would win.

Mason's prize includes $250,000 and the title of "America's favorite dancer."

While Thursday marked the end of "SYTYCD" Season 5, fans of the show won't have to wait long for a new installment. The show premieres an unprecedented fall season next month.
