Columbus State University will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new student recreation center at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 behind University Hall on the main campus.
The 96,000-square foot center will include three basketball courts, four volleyball courts, two racquetball courts, indoor rock climbing, fitness areas, a multi-purpose court, an indoor track, a ballroom, meeting rooms, offices and a 26,000-square foot aquatic center.
The aquatic center will have a six-lane pool with a diving board, a leisure poll, a "lazy river," a sauna and a 25-person whirlpool.
Construction of the $28 million facility is being funded by student fees.
