Healthgrades, an independent healthcare ratings organization, has ranked Hughston Hospital No. 1 in Georgia and in the top 5 percent in the U.S. for joint replacement surgery.
This is the eighth consecutive year the Columbus hospital received the aforementioned rankings.
Rankings appeared this week in a new Healthgrades study that analyzed patient outcomes in 5,000 U.S. hospitals over the years 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Healthgrades rates medical facilities based on data the hospitals file with the federal government. No hospital can opt in or out of the ratings. No hospital pays to be rated, either.
