UPDATE: Police catch suspects in Phenix City bank robbery near BTW apartments

Columbus police arrested two suspects in a Phenix City bank robbery today in the Booker T. Washington apartments.

Lt. Mark Starling confirmed that two suspects were caught in the robbery. The suspects were apprehended in the BTW apartments near the intersection of 6th Street and 5th Avenue. Another suspect is still at large.

There were more than a dozen law enforcement vehicles from the Columbus Police Department, the Phenix City Police Department and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office at the scene. Money was scattered on the grass near building 521 and more than 100 people gathered in the area as law enforcement arrived.

The area has been cordoned off with crime scene tape.

The CB&T Bank branch of Highway 80 was robbed about 2 p.m. Phenix City police chased the suspects' car into Columbus on Victory Drive. Moments later, the suspects' car crashed at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street. Two suspects were arrested and a third fled.
