Swimmer Natalie Coughlin and partner Alec Mazo, who earned 22 points from the judges on Monday's "Dancing with the Stars," were eliminated from the competition on Tuesday's results show.
An emotional Natalie said, "I love this so much. I guess I didn't show it... but I really did... And I'm sorry."
"I'm very proud of you... You are going to be awesome in everything you do," Alec told Natalie.
All three judges agreed that Natalie didn't deserve to go home. They were surprised that she and singer Aaron Carter were in the bottom two after combining the judges' scores with the viewers' votes.
"I'm heartbroken...The viewers, they want to support underdogs, but justice must prevail," head judge Len Goodman said.
Monday night's lowest scoring couple, NFL star Michael Irvin and partner Anna Demidova, will continue on the show. The couple earned 21 judges' points for their Paso Doble. It was their best score of the season. Snowboarder Louie Vito and partner Chelsie Hightower, who were also at the bottom of the pack with 22 judges' points, were also declared safe to dance another week.
