So far, this year, police officers in LaGrange, Ga., had investigated 222 incidents of someone breaking into an motor vehicle This time last year, there had been only 151.
In order to proactively combat the problem, LaGrange police officers have conducted 405 special details throughout the city with 41 of these being specifically geared toward identifying and apprehending individuals who have been doing the stealing.
An area showing a lot of activity is the LaFayette Parkway area east of the intersection with Davis Road.
Residents should not leave valuables in a vehicle and should make sure that all doors and windows are shut.
