Hilton Rivers, 61, of Columbus has been arrested by Columbus Police and charged with simple assault after a Thursday incident involving a knife and a threat in the Piggly Wiggly grocery store at 1807 South Lumpkin Road.
The store manager told police she saw Rivers take two bottles of Tylenol and put them in his pocket. She checked the video to confirm what she'd seen.
She notified another employee who approached Hilton. The employee told police Rivers pulled a pocket knife out, opened it, and threatened to cut him.
Police later found Rivers walking on Hawthorne Drive. He had the knife in his pocket. He was taken back to the Piggly Wiggly and identified.
