Phenix City crime: Randy Dixon, 30, charged with attempted murder in Sunday shooting

A Phenix City man faces a charge of attempted murder after a Sunday night shooting at a family gathering, police said.

Randy Dixon, 30, turned himself in to authorities after the 6 p.m. shooting at a Price Road home, said Lt. George Staudinger.

Dixon is accused of using a small-caliber handgun to shoot a 58-year-old family member in the abdomen and buttocks while in the home’s backyard, the lieutenant said.

Staudinger added that the men were arguing, which escalated when Dixon allegedly shot the other man.

The 58-year-old was taken to The Medical Center, where he remained Monday, Staudinger said.

Dixon turned himself in at the Russell County Sheriff’s Office Sunday evening, the lieutenant said. He is charged with attempted murder.
