More than 200 U.S. Army paratroopers are expected to participate in this year's Operation Sleigh Ride to benefit Santa's Castle on Fort Benning.
The event, held annually at Fryar Drop Zone, is sponsored by the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Participants are given the opportunity to donate gifts, which will in turn be distributed during the holiday season to the children of cash-strapped soldiers.
This year, Operation Sleigh Ride will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m.
As is the custom, those who participate in the jump will be rewarded a pair of foreign jump wings. This year, Airborne soldiers will get their Chilean jump wings for taking part in the toy-raising event.
